Social media provides brands with fantastic opportunities to market themselves to their audience. If you are not getting what you want from social media you may be doing a few things wrong. Here are some things we think you should avoid.
1. Being too sales focused!
Social media users do not want to be bombarded with sales messages. Give your fans and followers interesting content!
2. Being boring!
Brands have the opportunity to show their personality and tell a compelling story through their social network channels. However don’t just talk about yourself and don’t be afraid to use the odd bit of humour as well.
3. Not being committed!
Social media requires time and effort in order to build a thriving community of brand advocates. Your fans need to see a value in order to be enticed and engaged with your community. Be in it for the long haul!
4. Capturing the wrong audience!
If you plan on using social media to sell to your customers but yet most of your fans are not your target market, rethink your strategy! Think of your fans as being your typical customers!
5. Not having a sales strategy!
Every brand looking to use social media as a sales platform needs to make it easier for sales conversions. Avoid having too many steps in your sales funnel or you will face a reduced ROI.
